Confused about the rank of Hair salons? JC Penney Vs. Regis?
Are all mall salons created equal? Which is better, a department store salon or one in the middle of the mall like Regis. I always thought JC Penney was a nice salon. Is it true that all people who work in mall salons are fresh out of beauty school? Does anyone know if that is true for JC Penney? I need a trim and possibly layers before I go on vacation in 2 days. I had an appointment with another salon but she canceled it because of a family emergency. Find a hairstyle on the internet that you like, print it out, and take it to the salon and show it to your stylist. She should be able to copy it. Just make sure the picture shows how its cut well. :)

Alright, i currently work at smartstyle in a small town making just enough to get by, but my question is my boyfriend and i are thinking of moving to a bigger city and i just was wondering if anyone knew if i would be able to work at two different salons both owned by the same company? i don't see how there would be any problems but just asking your guy's input. i been dying my hair at home for 5 years... i got my hair colored at regis yesterday, i've never had it profesionally done before...and it looks HORRIBLE!!! my hair was light to mediem brown, with slightly darker under neith.....i wanted to go to bright blonde..kinda platinem blonde! and it turned out orange with red bloches every where. what should i do??? should i go back in a make them fix it...should i go some where else....should i fix it myself???? i want my money back...i spent over 60 dollars for this junk hair do...i look trashy. grrrr. i coulda filled my camero with gas for that much money and got mcdonalds! Most salons will offer to fix the problem free of charge, at least to the point where the color is tolerable. Platinum is nearly impossible to achieve on previously colored brown hair due to red and orange undertones, but they should have explained that to you before they began coloring. Also, it sounds as though their bleach application was a bit uneven, resulting in the spotted effect. I would recommend talking to the salon manager and seeing what they are willing to do to compensate you. But be sure not to do anything to your hair in the meantime, because if you put color on your hair and then try to complain, they will no longer be responsible for their mistake.

I went to Regis to get my hair dyed to match my roots and it cost $70. I told the lady to dye my hair lighter than the color she wanted to go because I knew that the shade that she picked out was too dark for my natural hair color. Hiya, what I tell everyone I meet is to go to the salon, sit down with a magazine, and watch people as they come in and go out. I'll apologize now to all the newbies, but if you've had hair disasters before, request a hairdresser that's been doing hair for longer than a minute. If you're going to get color, ask for either a specialist or someone whose been doing hair at least 3 years. With all salons there are going to be some hits and misses. You need to find a stylist that you feel comfortable with and with whom you can communicate well. You can always schedule a complimentary consultation and decide if you like the stylist enough to let him/her do your hair. If you do, go ahead and schedule an appointment. totally worth it or just too pricey?

Expensive. I now go to my stylist and she charged me 75 for a cut style and dye. Regis cut my hair for 35 and they didn't even style it. so i don' go there anymore. that was a one time deal for me. as for the quality i cant really tell you unless you got the same stylist i did. which she was kind of rude. but ya.
Thats were I get my hair cut and just for a cut its pretty cheap! Im not sure how much it is to get it colored! my dad gets his hair colored there and I dont think it that expensive !

It may be no better than a cheap-o place like the Hair Cuttery or the salon at Wal-Mart. Some salon chains do have really high standards about who they hire. Others don't. I remember that I got my prom hair done at the Regis Salon at my mall when I was in high school. My hair looked ok, but my friend who got hers done there, too, had a really bad style.
Anyway, why don't you ask someone whose hair you like where they got it done? And, don't just ask for the name of the salon, ask for the name of the particular stylist. Also, don't go for a walk-in unless you just want a trim. You will usually get put with whatever stylist doesn't have any clients booked, and there may be a good reason why they don't have any! So, ask for a recommendation, make an appointment (you may have to wait even a month for a great stylist to get an opening), and then take a picture of what you have in mind so there are no questions of what you want. If you don't know what you like, then ask the stylist what she thinks will look best on you, but if you don't want to go too short, be VERY explicit about it (like say ';Absolutely no shorter than my chin';). regis is a chain of salons all over..if i'm correct i believe they are linked with supercut..it isnt the price of the work that makes it better..it is the stylist itself..do some research..dont pick the first name in a yellow pages...call around..make a consultation with your stylist of choice and dont be afraid to ask for a portfolio of their work..you be the judge and decide if thery are best for you..

Extensions there range from $900 to $1500 dollars, not cheap. Typically they won't even give you extensions unless your hair length is touching your shoulders. Sorry about your bad haircut, but if your hair is at least to your shoulders and you have the money to spend then go for it, otherwise I would start experimenting with different hair styles!

I'm going there to get my hair done later. I asked my hubby to trim it for me (bad idea) and he hacked it off to the shortest layer so now it's all one length. I want to get some layers put in and some side-swept bangs (I think those look super cute). I'm also wanting to get it colored since mine is fading right now and maybe some highlights. Should you go for waxing ask them to do you a small patch test so that you can get the feel for it before they wax your eyebrows. Should you have enough money for laser hair removal, try it - it really works and it is not nearly as painful as waxing and the results speak for themselves. After a few sessions, the hair will stay away. Recommended salon - Re-Aqua Health and Skin Care Clinic, look on the internet for your nearest salon. Good luck!

Now, bringin in clientelle just depends on how much you have built up now, how fast you can build up clientelle from nothing and where the salon is located...My salon was in a mall so we had a lot of walk-ins, but if your have a nice, clean salon and the stylists are nice and can build a good rapport, you can definitely land good clientelle from the walk-ins...they can sometimes get to be your most loyal--following you wherever you may go...

I went to the Regis Hair Design School and started at a Regis salon when I finished school. They're a pretty decent corporation, you shouldn't really have any problems with the corporate people, but as all cosmetologists know--the people that really matter are the ones that work in there--the one's you'll be with day in and day out--you should take a trip to the salon and see how everybody's personality is; see how well you mesh with the other stylists...

Your best choice is too go to a reputable place. Look in the phone book..or go by word of mouth..every city has places that are known for their professionalism....it will cost you more...but..if you are wanting a different style..and want someone who has made a name for themselves..best to spend a bit more money. Spokane, WA 99207. I brought a photo of the haircut I always get. I told the stylist to trim only 1 inch. I ended up with very choppy, not blended hair that was cut off over 2 inches! It looked like when a young child attempts to cut their own hair. I returned the next day requesting another stylist to fix it and she ended up trimming my hair even more to try to remove the ';shelves'; and trimmed my bangs - which I had never had before - uneven where one side was 3/4 an inch longer! I returned the next day, receiving a full refund and proceeded to Fantastic Sam's where they did fix it the best they could with what they had to work with. In the end my hair is over 3 inches shorter and I have short bangs! I had to purchase a new curling iron since my barrel was too large for my new only 3 - 7 inches of choppy layers. I have NEVER had such a horrific haircut in my 30 years of professional stylists. As I am telling my story to other people, they have told me of their own bad experience with Regis Salons. While she was styling my hair some young man came in wanting a haircut. He specified to have Lindsey but was told she did not have time for a walk-in. He insisted on her so they told him to come back at 4:15. My color, cut, style and waxing began at 2:00. She finished at 3:45. I suspect she hurried so she would have time to trim this handsome young man whom many of the stylists apparently knew. My family will never use Regis again and I will tell my story to anyone willing to hear it. I have more faith in the abilities of a professional at Great Cuts, Fantastic Sam鈥檚 and the like than the unprofessional stylist your corporation employs.

As far as I know, they don't offer services like that at either salon. You need to find an independently owned salon rather than a chain - those places will do hair fusions, but not sew ins or glue ins unless they have a stylist able to do it (typically don't).
I've been to a Regis salon and they don't have much experience with ethnic hair.they basically tortured mine with their ';experienced';haircutting.They do not do weaves and even if they did,I doubt highly they would do it well.Try a salon dedicated mainly extensions,not just cutting and coloring hair.

For a partial highlight it ranges from $40-60 and for a full highlight around $80-90. You'll most likely also need a toner which will probably be another $10.

Regis Hair Salon or Trade Secret hair salon?

where i live they are about the same in price. i think about 25.00. I started getting my hair cut buy the guy that cuts it now at a trade secret. This doesn't mean all trade secret hair people are good. Without trying to sound too sexist and other stuff my findings from lots of haircuts is never let a woman you don't know cut your hair. She is going to do what she wants to do and doesn't care what you want. If you can tell a guy is gay you might be ok -- but the best is if you can find a straight guy that cuts hair -- their aren't many -- but they view their job more like a craft usually and do what you want and do it well. So go in and stare down the staff and their clients and then make your choice. A little homework on your part can save you from a bad haircut. Also if they have bad hair don't expect them to know how to do anything stylish. As a last choice -- when you see someone with a good haircut ask them -- i think most people will be glad to tell you -- the guy that cuts my hair even gives me a free haircut with 3 referrals.Regis Hair Salon or Trade Secret hair salon?

This doesn't mean all trade secret hair people are good. Without trying to sound too sexist and other stuff my findings from lots of haircuts is never let a woman you don't know cut your hair. She is going to do what she wants to do and doesn't care what you want. If you can tell a guy is gay you might be ok -- but the best is if you can find a straight guy that cuts hair -- their aren't many -- but they view their job more like a craft usually and do what you want and do it well. So go in and stare down the staff and their clients and then make your choice. A little homework on your part can save you from a bad haircut. Also if they have bad hair don't expect them to know how to do anything stylish. Honestly, I think it really depends. The Regis in the town where I grew up in was no better than your run of the mill $10-12 haircuts and almost anything you had none was not sastifactory. However, the Regis in the town where I live now is much nicer and gives off the vibe of more of an upscale salon than a chain one. A relaxed, layered cut and trimmed bangs doesn't sound too extreme so you should be good.
As far as pricing, it ranges at each salon (the cheapest I've heard Regis doing a cut for is $21 for an adult, the most being $29 for an adult--this can also vary depending on who cuts your hair and if they have any kind of specialization which means they charge more). The cuts cover them shampooing/conditioning, cutting, and styling your hair for you.
P.S. If you do go and you're not satisfied with your cut, DO tell the stylist so that he/she can adjust it the way you want. If you go home and still feel like it wasn't quite what you wanted, you can call back and speak to the manager about it. Generally they'll let you come back in, free of charge, and try to get your hair right if you weren't happy with it.

I dont like the Regis in my area either...but its not about the salon, its about the person actually doing your hair. Put an ad on craigslist for someone who specialized in that. I did it for color, and got in touch with a fantastic colorist. Or just call salons in your area. Thinning is cutting some of your hair at the root...so theres less of your hair (they use special scissors that you can buy, but I recommend you DONT do it yourself!

Regis ruined my hair! I hate them. I went there for a relaxer and I had a super cool Aeon Flux type hair cut that the stylist kept complimenting. Well, she said there were a few straggly ends that she needed to trim, I was like, okay. Then after the relaxer she styled it in a weird bowl cut around my head and I didn't think much of it. I'm used to stylists styling my hair weird after a chemical service.
Well the next day I was doing my hair and realized that she had totally changed the cut! It was some salt n pepper style circa 1985 lopsided do! One side was supposed to be dramatically longer than the other and come to points. She ruined it. I had also just cut off my long hair to get that cut, so I wasn't used to short hair, but the style I had rocked, so I didn't mind.
I was stuck with a jacked up style that I had to go get fixed by someone else. When I called Regis to complain they blew me off basically and said the stylist could fix it for me. Yeah, right, I wasn't letting her anywhere near my head. I'm still trying to grow out my hair to what it was and that was back in May. My boyfriend says he hates them and wants to go shake that women because he knows how upset I still am about it (obviously).Is regis hair salon a good place to get haircuts ?and why ?
I think you are concerned about the wrong thing. The salon is only the establishment. It's the stylist that you want to talk to and find out if they can do your hair like you want it. The test to get into Regis as a stylist is not very hard. You may want to ask the stylists if they have any pictures of there work and let them know that you nervous.
I never trust these chain salons. The hiring process is not as paticular as smaller privately owned salons. Chains are in the business of making money even if they screw up your hair. Private salons have much more to lose as their business is their life. I have found that older stylists are much better as they actually know how to cut these younger, newer just out of school stylists are razor happy.

It all depends on the people working and their skill. Each one will be different. Overall, I would rate them a lower-mid grade salon. Better than your very cheapo Best Cuts or Fastastic Sams but not a higher end salon either.

i sometimes go there and it cost me around $250 just go there and get a quote for your hair you dont have to book anything, just tell them you want a quote because you want it done before christmas.

Yea, the girl gave me a student discount just because, she asked me if I was but i told her no, she still decided to give me one. It was free because I went in to dye my hair and she gave me highlights too. She cut it and I didn't really like it. I got compliments but didn't believe it was that good. It was shorter on one side. Is Regis Salon good with curly mixed hair?
There is something you need to know about ';Regis Salon's'; the stylist that work there are taught to cut hair the ';Regis'; way. They are not allowed to cut hair any way except how ';Regis'; taught them. (No thinning, no chipping or texturising) It may not be the best salon for you concerning your hair type. I would suggest find someone whose hair you like and asking them where they got the cut.

i think its a good place to get ur hair cut..my friends are craazy about it. i walked past it in the mall and the chicks working there had some pretty wild hair. (wild in a good way) so hopefully they cut hair as well as their hair looks. =-)

Other stylists choose to go to salons where they can get on the floor right away and cut hair and make money but they don't have the extra experience, especially with updated styles and trends.
